Silver plating
The LoneStar Group offers in-house silver plating to protect high-performance, precision-engineered fasteners, bolts and components required to operate in the world’s most demanding environments.
This form of electroplating is valued for its conductivity, lubricity and corrosion resistance.
Conductivity and performance without compromise
Silver plating is an electroplating technique where a 99.9% chemically pure silver anode is used in an electrolytic solution to deposit a thin layer of silver onto a metal component (substrate). To obtain the best possible results, the LoneStar Group deploys several pre-treatments on materials and parts chosen for silver plating, including a thorough initial cleaning stage.
Once materials and parts are prepared, they are then suspended in the electrolytic solution before an electrical current is introduced to deposit the controlled and desired thickness of silver plating onto the component.
Technical details
- Silver plating delivers excellent electrical conductivity (the highest of all metals)
- Silver is antibacterial, antimicrobial and FDA compliant
- High temperature and corrosion resistance
- Silver plating delivers anti-galling and low-friction performance in extreme conditions
- High integrity compressive sealing properties
- Typical deposit thicknesses range from 0.001mm to 0.050mm
With our longstanding technical expertise and rigorous quality controls, the LoneStar Group can manufacture and distribute a broad scope of high-performance, approved and accredited silver-plated components to meet international standards and customer specifications.
