Electroless nickel plating (ENP)

The LoneStar Group offers electroless nickel plating (ENP) to protect high-performance, precision-engineered fasteners, bolts and components.

This hard nickel-phosphorus alloy coating can condition complex shapes and thread patterns while providing exceptional corrosion and wear resistance.

Superior uniformity, durability and corrosion resistance

Electroless Nickel plating is the deposit of a nickel-alloy to the surface of a component by a chemical reduction process. To ensure the highest possible quality of surface finish, the LoneStar Group works with customers to advise on and provide the appropriate level of cleaning and pre-treatment services to every component or batch.

Once this stage is complete, components are then placed into the final nickel-plating solutions, where the desired deposit rate is closely monitored to achieve uniform, durable corrosion-resistant plating to specified thicknesses. Because the nickel plating is deposited chemically, the thickness of the plating always remains even, despite the variation of shape, form, feature or thread. The precision and uniformity of this chemical depositing ensures every element of the substrate is plated, even in precision-engineered slots, grooves, holes and on the inside of walls of piping, tubing, hydraulic pistons, cylinders, valves, or other critical industry components.

High phosphorus deposits of ENP (10-14%) create an amorphous surface finish, which means there are no grain or phase boundaries for corrosive or acidic elements to attack.

Technical details

  • ENP offers integrity, hardness, corrosion and wear resistance
  • Can be heat-treated to enhance protective properties
  • Hardness up to 1000 HV, adhesion and wear
  • Exceptionally uniform, chemically deposited finishes, regardless of form
  • ENP components can be polished to create attractive, high-performance surfaces
  • Superior corrosion resistanceENP can be applied to a wide range of materials, including non-metallic

With our longstanding technical expertise and rigorous quality controls, the LoneStar Group can manufacture and distribute a broad scope of high-performance, approved and accredited electroless nickel-plated components to meet international standards and customer specifications.
