Waterjet cutting

Waterjet cutting is a manufacturing process that utilises high-pressure jets of water, often mixed with abrasive materials, to precisely cut through a wide range of materials, including metals, composites, ceramics and plastics.

Accurate, versatile, efficient

Waterjet cutting is used to achieve precise profiles and shapes without inducing heat into materials. This cold-cutting method eliminates the risk of warping, distortion, and mechanical stress that can occur when using laser, plasma or traditional cutting methods.

Extremely tight tolerances can be achieved using CNC-controlled movement, with water forced through a nozzle at pressures of up to 60,000 psi. This high-pressure jet is so powerful and accurate that it can produce exceptionally clean edges that often need no additional finishing. This process minimises waste material and does not generate excess heat, gases or fumes, making it both efficient and sustainable.

Our state-of-the-art waterjet machine tools can cut thin materials into complex shapes at speed and cut thicker materials to achieve near-net-shapes before specialised finishing. At the LoneStar Group, all our waterjet machines deploy a twin cutting head design, meaning two parts can be produced in one cycle to maximise production and project efficiency.
