431 stainless steel is a high-chromium, nickel-bearing martensitic stainless steel known for its excellent combination of high strength, toughness, and moderate corrosion resistance.
It’s essentially an improved version of 410 stainless steel, with added nickel (1.25–2.5%) to enhance toughness and ductility. When hardened and tempered, it offers one of the highest tensile strengths among martensitic stainless steels
