321
Austenitic stainless steel
Description
321 stainless steel is an austenitic chromium-nickel stainless steel that is stabilized with titanium (Ti).
It was developed to provide better resistance to intergranular corrosion after welding or exposure to high temperatures, a problem that occurs in standard grades like 304. The titanium forms stable carbides, preventing chromium carbide precipitation, which helps maintain corrosion resistance even after heat exposure.
321 stainless steel can also be supplied to petrochemical standards including ASTM A193 B8T & ASTM A194 8T in both solution annealed (class 1) and strain hardnened (class 2) condition
