TripleFast Middle East’s Beach Cleanup Initiative: Saving Dubai’s Shorelines

On November 21st, 20 members of the TripleFast Middle East team rolled up their sleeves and got to work at a local beach cleanup at the Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary. This initiative was more than just another outing; it marked a significant step toward our commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

The Jebel Ali Wildlife Sanctuary, one of Dubai’s last undeveloped natural areas, is a critical habitat for a remarkable array of wildlife. It is home to 124 bird species and 147 fish species, including marine wonders, including the orange-spotted grouper, Arabian carpet shark, and the majestic whale shark. The shores are a nesting ground for endangered green turtles and hawksbill turtles. Participating in the preservation of this ecosystem was both an honour and a humbling experience for our team.

The team arrived bright and early, starting the day with a briefing on the sanctuary’s ecological importance. A walk along the mangroves set the stage, showcasing the area’s serene beauty and emphasising the importance of our efforts. Equipped with gloves and trash bags, the team split into groups and headed to the sands with a shared mission: to leave the beach cleaner than they found it.

Since the beach is closed to the public, most of the pollution originates from the sea. The debris collected included plastic cups, food wrappers, and chunks of polystyrene—all stark reminders of the pervasive global plastic problem. One group even uncovered a rusty ship rope, a hazard to both humans and animals. In total, the team collected 42 kg of rubbish, making a tangible difference in restoring the sanctuary to its pristine condition.

The day’s efforts offered a powerful lesson in environmental awareness. It is easy to overlook the consequences of littering, but this experience highlighted its detrimental impact. A single cup or bag might seem insignificant, but when multiplied by hundreds or thousands, the toll on our environment becomes undeniable.

While this was a voluntary activity, it underscored one of TripleFast’s core values: collaboration. Much like tackling a challenging project in the office, cleaning the beach required teamwork, coordination, and shared purpose. By the end of the day, the team felt a renewed sense of camaraderie and pride in contributing to a meaningful cause.

Team TripleFast enjoys participating in environmentally friendly activities. Previously, we have planted mangroves and helped clean Wadi Shawka. We are excited to continue making a positive impact on our surroundings. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Companies for Good for organising this impactful initiative and allowing us to do our part.
